Flooring has to be a personal thing, just like flooring would be in any conventional house.  However I believe that a cave house can allow an imagination to have a bit of freedom .  Normally ceramic tiles are used and we all know that they come in many different colours and textures.  Many cave houses have incorporated different types of flooring, some conventional and some not so conventional.

These ceramic tiles have a multi tone effect with shades of blue/greys/terracotta, and the use of white grout between makes them stand out.

Again these ceramic tiles have the nice white grout between and this against the more traditional terracotta colour.

Wooden floors, although slightly unusual are still very possible and very attractive, although I have been advised that this needs to be laid on wooden slats with at least 2cm of air space below.

Quarry tiles can add a very rustic look to a cave house, and although not readily available they can in fact be sourced.  They are also very durable in comparison to ceramic tiles.

Stamped concrete is a reasonably new trend, but can provide not only a very unusual and attractive finish but one that is also very durable, and reasonably cheap alternative to ceramic tiles.

Hand laid mosaic floors can let your imagination and your artistic talents run wild.  A very time consuming floor, depending on the floor area, however very worth while and very unique.

This mosaic floor has been laid within conventional ceramic tiles, almost creating a pathway.

This is an example of an acid stained concrete floor.  This is quite a new technique which we will discuss in our renovation section.

This is a natural pebble stone flooring  which has been used on a terrace, this is a little bit like cobble stones but on a much smaller scale.  This has a lovely sensory effect when walked on with bare feet !

This is another example of the natural pebble stone flooring, with a much finer finish which is more suitable for an interior location

This is an example of a painted concrete floor which has been given a texture effect by using two different coloured paints.  A very cost effective way of creating a flooring effect.  Id properly sealed this has very good durability but not really effective for a heavy traffic area
